Charles Gibbs is a fierce trial attorney, zealous advocate for clients, and trusted public figure. He has appeared in federal and state courts on behalf of governmental entities, individuals wrongly injured by the negligence of others, individuals charged with crimes, and nonprofit organizations.
In coverage of Gibbs' induction by the Philadelphia Tribune, Gibbs "left no question that part of his role as the newly installed president of the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia is to not only serve and be an advocate for those without voices but also to ensure that African-American lawyers in the city gain access to opportunities their white counterparts have long enjoyed."
Established in 1950, the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia, Inc.’s purpose, then and now, has been to address the professional needs and development of Black lawyers in the City of Philadelphia through programs such as seminars, cultural events and publications.
Today, the Barristers’ Association continues to provide a very important and unique role for its members by providing a forum for discussion and dissemination of information of matters of particular interest to Black attorneys and the Philadelphia Black community at large.
